Jewelweed, also known as "Touch-me-not," is a native Minnesota flower growing in marshy areas in the fall. Jewelweed honey has a slightly tangy, fruity taste that pairs exceedingly well with fruit or yogurt.
We know the bees have been visiting jewelweed blooms in September when they return to the hive wearing a stripe of orange pollen down their backs!
The foraging bees have to climb into the trumpet-like flower to reach the nectar, and the flower stamen paints this pollen stripe down the bees thorax as it climbs back out.
